Auteur-compositeur-interprète né à Genève et vivant dans la région de Nyon depuis son adolescence, Fabe Gryphin a également vécu aux Etats-Unis dans le New Jersey où il a obtenu son diplôme d’High School. Fils d’un pianiste de Jazz et d’une interprète anglais-français, il va dès son plus jeune âge développer un attrait pour la musique et l’écriture.

Rappeur, chanteur et pianiste mais se décrivant plutôt comme un songwriter, Fabe Gryphin fait partie de ses artistes qu’il est difficile de mettre dans une case. En effet, actif dans la musique depuis une dizaine d’années, ce touche-à-tout a développé son expérience de scène et de jeu au sein de diverses formations hip hop, rock, pop et même punk hardcore avant de lancer son propre projet en plus de son groupe d’indie pop rock actuel Alphastate qui a sorti son premier album en 2015.

Après un premier EP WoG mélangeant hip hop, pop et électro sur ses productions en 2012 dont le single Waves of Gold sera sélectionné comme bande-son du film documentaire Time of My Life et une première mixtape hip hop DCBM en juillet dernier sous le nom de Se7en J contenant des titres enregistrés entre 2005 et 2013, Fabe vient de sortir son premier album dont le vernissage a eu lieu le 04 mars 2016 à l’Usine à Gaz de Nyon.

Ce projet, né de sa rencontre avec le batteur Francis Stoessel, marque une nouvelle étape pour Fabe Gryphin qui, après dix ans à jongler entre travail et musique, a décidé de se consacrer à sa passion le temps d’un album. Belle évolution musicale également, le projet solo se transformant en groupe composé de musiciens professionnels pour le live, comme pour le studio. En effet, après une première scène concluante au Cully Jazz 2015 avec le duo Symbiosis de Francis Stoessel et Adriano Koch, le groupe va s’agrandir en recrutant Erwan Valazza à la guitare, William Jacquemet au trombone et Gauthier Toux aux claviers.

Fidèle à lui-même, Fabe continue de mélanger les genres sur ce premier album qui navigue entre un hip hop alternatif et une pop aux influences soul et indie rock avec une touche omniprésente de jazz que les musiciens ont apporté au projet. Enregistré en août 2015 au Blend studio de Lutry avec les ingénieurs du son Antoine Estoppey et Ben Tixhon, Street & Flower : Summer X TIME pourrait être décrit comme la bande-son de l’histoire d’un homme à la recherche de sa raison d’être et son parcours parsemé de doutes afin de devenir l’artiste qui sommeille en lui.

Born in Geneva and living in the Nyon area since his teenage years, Fabe Gryphin also lived in the United States in New Jersey where he graduated from High School. Son of a jazz pianist and a French-English interpreter, he naturally developped an attraction to music and writing from an early age.

Rapper, singer and pianist who describes himself as more of a songwriter, Fabe Gryphin is one of those artists that simply doesn’t fit in a box. Active in music for about ten years, he developed his stage and overall music experience in various groups in hip hop, rock, pop and even punk hardcore before starting his own solo project in addition to his current indie pop rock band Alphastate who released their first LP in 2015.

After a first EP WoG mixing hip hop, pop and electro on his own productions in 2012 with the single Waves of Gold being selected as the soundtrack to the documentary film Time of My Life and a first hip hop mixtape album DCBM in July last year under the name Se7en J with tracks recorded between 2005 and 2013, Fabe just released his debut album with a concert at Usine à Gaz in Nyon on March 4, 2016.

This project, which he put together with drummer Francis Stoessel, marks a new stage for Fabe, who after ten years juggling work and music, decided to devote himself to his passion, at least the time of an album. It is also a big musical step forward as the sound evolves from a solo project to an actual band of professional musicians. It all started with a successful performance in Cully Jazz 2015 with Francis Stoessel and Adriano Koch’s duet Symbiosis, after which the group formed and grew by recruiting Erwan Valazza on guitar, William Jacquemet on trombone and Gauthier Toux on keyboards.

True to his style, Fabe keeps blending genres on this record by mixing alternative hip hop and pop together with soul and indie rock influences, while the band brings a sweet touch of jazz to the table. Recorded in August 2015 at Lutry’s Blend studio with sound engineers Antoine Estoppey and Ben Tixhon, Street & Flower : Summer X TIME could be described as the soundtrack of a man’s journey to find his purpose and his path strewn with doubts to unleash the artist within.
